Axel's take: 7.6/10

Useful kitchenettes and friendly staff make this a practical airport base, with some rough edges. a no-frills extended-stay motel near Austin’s airport, scored for what it is.

Studio 6 Austin Airport is a no-frills extended-stay motel that makes sense for budget travelers who want to cook and park free. Kitchenettes, full-size refrigerators and coin laundry give it more everyday usefulness than a basic overnight stop. Recent Expedia and Engine guests repeatedly praise clean rooms and helpful staff. Overall ratings are positive, although Booking.com guests are noticeably less enthusiastic than Expedia’s.

The main compromise is consistency: recent reviews repeatedly mention cigarette or marijuana smells despite the smoke-free policy, and some describe slow-to-warm showers. This is a car-oriented airport location, not a convenient base for exploring Austin on foot. A damage deposit and pet charges also deserve checking before arrival. We’d consider it for a practical stopover or self-catering stay, but skip it if you are sensitive to smoke odors.

• Best for: budget airport stopovers; self-catering stays; travelers with a car

• Watch out for: recurring smoke-odor complaints; some reports of lukewarm showers; damage deposit and pet charges

• Location: A short drive from the airport; plan on driving or rideshares for most outings.

• Rooms: Simple kitchenette rooms with full-size refrigerators; smoke odors and shower temperatures draw complaints.

• Cleanliness: Positive overall, with repeated recent praise, though occasional lapses are reported.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength across recent guest reviews.

• Amenities: Free parking and Wi-Fi, kitchenettes and coin laundry; housekeeping is on request.

• Fees and surprises: A damage deposit is required, pets cost extra, and payment is cashless according to booking listings.
