Axel's take: 8.0/10

A comfortable South Austin base for drivers, with highway noise the main compromise. a modern, select-service 3-star beside I-35 in South Austin, scored for what it is.

This modern, select-service 3-star beside I-35 is a strong pick for a short Austin stay if you have a car. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and accommodating staff; Booking.com’s cleanliness and comfort ratings reinforce that picture. Free parking, an outdoor pool, a gym and a sociable lobby with a bar and billiards give it useful extras without full-service expectations.

The highway setting is the compromise: several recent guests report intrusive traffic noise, particularly in road-facing rooms, so request one away from the highway. This is a driving base rather than a walk-out-and-explore neighborhood hotel. Sliding bathroom doors also draw recurring privacy complaints, and breakfast costs extra. We’d skip it for light sleepers or anyone wanting downtown Austin on the doorstep.

• Best for: Travelers with a car; Short business stays; Road-trip stopovers

• Watch out for: Highway noise in road-facing rooms; Limited bathroom privacy; Breakfast costs extra

• Location: Convenient highway access for drivers; poorly suited to exploring Austin on foot.

• Rooms: Modern rooms and comfortable beds; recurring complaints concern traffic noise and sliding bathroom doors.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia feedback and Booking.com’s category ratings.

• Service: Recent guests commonly praise friendly, accommodating front-desk staff.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, fitness center, lobby bar, billiards and a grab-and-go pantry.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is complimentary; breakfast and pets cost extra. Marriott lists housekeeping every other day.
