Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong downtown base for sociable weekends, less convincing for quiet nights. a social, design-led mid-range hotel near Centennial Olympic Park, scored for what it is.

Moxy Atlanta Downtown is a design-led mid-range hotel, not a traditional full-service four-star. We'd pick it for a short, sociable stay: the aquarium, convention center and arenas are walkable, and check-in happens at the lobby bar. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and cleanliness. Eggslut, the Jagger Suite rooftop lounge and a round-the-clock gym give it more personality than a straightforward business hotel.

The trade-off is comfort versus atmosphere. Booking.com and Marriott guests report music reaching bedrooms, while compact rooms and limited storage recur across reviews. Several guests also miss having a refrigerator. Breakfast and valet parking cost extra, and Marriott confirms there is no room service. It's a strong fit for eventgoers traveling light; we'd skip it for light sleepers, longer stays or anyone expecting spacious, conventionally equipped rooms.

• Best for: concert and sports weekends; couples traveling light; travelers who enjoy a lively hotel bar

• Watch out for: bar and rooftop music reaching bedrooms; compact rooms with limited storage; breakfast and valet parking cost extra

• Location: Walkable to Centennial Olympic Park, Georgia Aquarium, GWCC and major event venues.

• Rooms: Modern and compact; guests flag limited storage and missing refrigerators.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn frequent praise, despite occasional check-in complaints.

• Amenities: Eggslut, lobby bar, Jagger Suite rooftop lounge and 24-hour gym; no room service.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast, valet parking and pets carry extra charges; minimum check-in age is 21.
