Axel's take: 8.0/10
Comfortable renovated rooms and rooftop views, with sightseeing and sunbed trade-offs. a large 4-star business hotel outside Athens’ historic center, scored for what it is.
President is a large 4-star business hotel in Ambelokipi, better for comfortable rooms and transport connections than doorstep sightseeing. We'd call it a strong practical pick: Booking.com and recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, comfortable beds, helpful staff and the breakfast spread. The hotel now describes its rooms as fully renovated, and recent guests largely support that improved picture. The 21st-floor rooftop restaurant and seasonal pool are its standout extras.
The compromise is location: expect a walk to the metro and a ride to the historic sights. Request a room away from Kifissias Avenue if traffic noise bothers you. Pool access is free for guests, but sunbeds require minimum food-and-drink consumption, have timed slots and can fill up. Confirm seasonal opening dates, particularly in October. We'd skip it if walking everywhere or unrestricted pool lounging is central to your trip.
-
Best for: business travelers; sightseers comfortable using the metro; travelers prioritizing clean, comfortable rooms
-
Watch out for: not in the historic sightseeing center; traffic noise in avenue-facing rooms; seasonal pool and sunbed minimum consumption
-
Location: Ambelokipi neighborhood, roughly seven minutes on foot from Panormou metro; sightseeing generally requires transport.
-
Rooms: The hotel says rooms are fully renovated; guests praise beds and comfort, though avenue-facing rooms can be noisy.
-
Cleanliness: A consistent strength in Booking.com ratings and recent Expedia reviews.
-
Service: Mostly praised as helpful and friendly, with some less welcoming front-desk experiences.
-
Amenities: Rooftop pool and restaurant, buffet breakfast and free Wi-Fi; pool opening dates vary between published listings.
-
Fees and surprises: Sunbeds require minimum consumption per timed slot; parking costs extra, and breakfast inclusion depends on the booking.
