Axel's take: 7.8/10
A good sightseeing base with rooftop Acropolis views, but basic rooms and uneven soundproofing. a simple 2-star hotel in the heart of Plaka, scored for what it is.
Adams is a simple 2-star in Plaka, and we'd pick it for sightseeing rather than spending much time indoors. Its location puts restaurants and major ancient sights within easy walking distance, while the shared rooftop terrace delivers the standout Acropolis view. Booking.com and Expedia guests regularly praise cleanliness and helpful staff; overall, this is a good budget base, not a polished boutique stay.
The compromises are practical: some rooms are small and dated, bathrooms can feel cramped, and Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests flag noise carrying between rooms and corridors. Breakfast is straightforward, with mixed feedback on variety and service. A tiny lift and steps, including access to the rooftop, also deserve attention. We'd skip it if you're a light sleeper, need step-free access, or want spacious, modern rooms.
-
Best for: budget-conscious sightseers; short Athens city breaks; travelers exploring on foot
-
Watch out for: noise between rooms and corridors; small rooms and cramped bathrooms; tiny lift and rooftop stairs
-
Location: Excellent Plaka base for walking to the Acropolis, restaurants and historic sights.
-
Rooms: Basic and sometimes dated; room size varies, and Acropolis views require the appropriate category.
-
Cleanliness: Generally praised across sites, despite occasional negative reports.
-
Service: Usually helpful and welcoming, though some guests describe uneven breakfast service.
-
Amenities: Acropolis-view rooftop terrace, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, breakfast and 24-hour reception.
-
Fees and surprises: Confirm breakfast inclusion; parking is nearby rather than on-site, with charges reported.
