Axel's take: 8.6/10

Come for the private island and downtown convenience, but choose your section carefully. An upscale downtown casino resort with adults-only rooms, family suites and a private island, scored for what it is.

This upscale downtown casino resort is a strong pick if you want beach days alongside walkable restaurants and shopping. Its standout is Renaissance Island: guest access and complimentary boat transfers make the flamingo beaches a genuine reason to book. Choose the adults-only Marina Hotel for a grown-up atmosphere or Ocean Suites for family-friendly space. Expedia and Booking.com guests strongly praise cleanliness, while recent Expedia reviews repeatedly highlight helpful staff.

The trade-off is that this is not a conventional sprawling beachfront resort, and some Tripadvisor guests report uneven service or tired rooms. A resort fee applies; all-inclusive dining requires the appropriate package. Ocean Suites’ lobby is undergoing renovation during September–November 2026, with reception temporarily on the third floor; published completion dates differ. We'd skip it if uninterrupted quiet or a long beach directly outside your room matters most.

• Best for: Couples wanting adults-only accommodation; Families choosing Ocean Suites; Beachgoers who also enjoy downtown dining

• Watch out for: Ocean Suites lobby renovation through November 2026; Boat transfers for the private-island beaches; Resort fee and package-dependent meal inclusions

• Location: Central Oranjestad, convenient for restaurants and shopping rather than Palm Beach’s resort strip.

• Rooms: Adults-only Marina rooms and family-friendly Ocean Suites offer distinct experiences; some guests find rooms dated.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall: Booking.com and Expedia cleanliness scores outweigh scattered housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise staff; Tripadvisor reports include some check-in and communication lapses.

• Amenities: Private-island beaches, complimentary water taxis, three outdoor pools, casinos, spa and fitness facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Resort fee applies; self-parking is free, meals depend on package, and Ocean Suites check-in is relocated during lobby works.
