Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong beach-first choice, provided you don't expect polished rooms or guaranteed quiet. a mid-range beachfront resort and casino on Palm Beach, scored for what it is.

Holiday Inn Resort Aruba is a mid-range beachfront resort and casino whose biggest asset is its Palm Beach setting, not upscale interiors. We'd pick it for easy beach days and walking access to restaurants, shops and nightlife. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the housekeeping and friendly staff, while the outdoor pools and on-site dining make it practical for families. It's a strong choice if location matters more than luxury.

The compromise is the accommodation: guests across several sites describe dated rooms and bathrooms, even when they're clean and comfortable. Nearby nightlife can disturb sleep in some rooms, and check-in queues crop up in reviews. Beach-shade reservations can also involve extra charges; confirm your booking's inclusions. We'd skip it for a quiet, polished honeymoon, but consider it a dependable base for travelers spending most days outdoors.

• Best for: families wanting a beachfront base; couples who enjoy nearby restaurants; beach-first travelers prioritizing location

• Watch out for: dated rooms and bathrooms; nightlife noise in some rooms; beach-shade charges and reservations

• Location: Directly on Palm Beach, with restaurants, shopping and nightlife within walking distance.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable but dated; room position matters for nighttime noise.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest feedback, especially housekeeping.

• Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise, though check-in queues are a recurring frustration.

• Amenities: Outdoor pools, a fitness center, casino and multiple dining options; all-inclusive packages are optional.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is complimentary; breakfast and reserved beach shade may cost extra depending on your booking.
