Axel's take: 9.0/10
Excellent service and beach appeal, with seaweed and current renovation work to weigh. a luxury adults-only all-inclusive on Akumal Bay, scored for what it is.
Secrets Akumal is a luxury adults-only all-inclusive that largely earns its reputation. We'd put it high on the list for couples wanting attentive service, spacious suites and a relaxed beachfront setting. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff and immaculate grounds; dining feedback is also strongly positive overall. Three pools offer alternatives to the beach, rather than making every day depend on sea conditions.
The main caveat is that Akumal's snorkeling appeal doesn't guarantee clear water: recent guests describe substantial sargassum during some stays. Vacation-club sales pitches also recur across sites. More immediately, October 2026 guests report renovation noise, with one identifying flooring work around building 4 near the Preferred Club Lounge. Confirm the work's status and room placement before booking. We'd skip it if uninterrupted quiet or reliably seaweed-free swimming is essential.
-
