Axel's take: 7.7/10

A convenient stadium base, with friendly staff but uneven four-star polish. a renovated, practical 4-star chain hotel beside Vancouver’s stadiums, scored for what it is.

This practical 4-star chain hotel is a strong pick for concerts, hockey and short downtown stays, rather than a special-occasion escape. Sandman announced its completed renovation and Signature rebrand in January 2026. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; Tripadvisor guests also highlight the service and convenient location. An indoor pool, hot tub, Moxies and Shark Club make it easy to stay put between outings.

The refresh hasn’t erased every drawback. Standard rooms can be compact, and guests on both sites mention small, slow elevators, particularly around events. Tripadvisor’s recent feedback is more mixed on housekeeping and bathroom condition, with some noise complaints too. Parking costs extra. We’d choose it for access to BC Place, Rogers Arena and transit, but skip it for guaranteed quiet, generous space or consistently polished four-star surroundings.

• Best for: concert and sports fans; short downtown breaks; travelers exploring without a car

• Watch out for: compact standard rooms; small, slow elevators around events; uneven housekeeping and some noise complaints

• Location: Excellent for BC Place, Rogers Arena and Queen Elizabeth Theatre, with SkyTrain nearby.

• Rooms: Refreshed but sometimes compact; compare room categories and tower layouts before booking.

• Cleanliness: Strong recent Expedia feedback, but Tripadvisor reports show some housekeeping and bathroom lapses.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across Expedia and Tripadvisor.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, hot tub, gym, free Wi-Fi, Moxies and Shark Club.

• Fees and surprises: On-site parking and pets cost extra; the renovation was announced complete in January 2026.
