Axel's take: 8.2/10

A charming downtown base with standout staff, but not flawless five-star polish. a small luxury boutique hotel in Manhattan’s historic Seaport, scored for what it is.

33 Hotel is a 66-room luxury boutique in the Seaport, and we’d pick it for neighborhood character rather than grand-hotel facilities. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms; recent reviews remain strongly positive overall. Cobbled streets, waterfront walks and nearby restaurants give it a distinctive downtown setting. Select terrace rooms offer Brooklyn Bridge views, while the daily wine hour adds a sociable touch.

The trade-offs matter at this level: some guests report noisy or unreliable climate control, and the destination fee covers basics such as Wi-Fi and gym access. Those bridge-view terraces belong to particular rooms, not a communal rooftop. Facade and roof-repair permits remain listed, so confirm scaffolding and possible disruption before booking. It’s a strong choice for downtown-focused couples; we’d skip it for a full-service luxury escape or a Midtown-centered itinerary.

• Best for: couples exploring Lower Manhattan; travelers who prefer small boutique hotels; guests booking a private bridge-view terrace

• Watch out for: nightly destination fee; some climate-control complaints; confirm facade work and scaffolding

• Location: Characterful Seaport setting near waterfront dining; Fulton Street subway is roughly seven minutes away.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and marble bathrooms; views and private terraces depend on the category booked.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, including high Expedia cleanliness ratings and repeated praise for clean rooms.

• Service: Friendly, attentive front-desk staff are the most consistent strength across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: Restaurant, gym and daily wine hour; no pool or communal bridge-view rooftop.

• Fees and surprises: Destination fee and incidental hold apply; parking is off-site and paid, with no valet currently available.
