Axel's take: 4.8/10

Convenient highway access cannot make up for unreliable upkeep. an independent budget motel beside I-35, scored for what it is.

Edelweiss Inn and Suites is an independent budget motel beside I-35, with spacious rooms, free parking and refrigerators and microwaves. Some guests appreciate its German-themed character and helpful staff, but we'd generally choose somewhere else. Booking.com and Expedia ratings sit around five out of ten, while Tripadvisor's overall assessment is substantially worse.

The problem isn't simply dated decor. Reviews across sites describe musty rooms, maintenance failures and inconsistent cleaning; several Expedia guests also reported cockroaches in 2025. March and April 2026 reviews still mention broken basics and unusable Wi-Fi. Positive stays do exist, and service attracts genuine praise alongside complaints, but delivery looks too uneven to recommend confidently. We'd skip it for a family holiday or any stay where dependable cleanliness and working amenities matter most.

  • Best for: drivers prioritizing I-35 access; short stays with minimal amenity needs

  • Watch out for: inconsistent cleaning and pest reports; dated rooms and maintenance problems; unreliable Wi-Fi

  • Location: Convenient I-35 frontage, with restaurants and shopping nearby; better suited to drivers than downtown sightseeing.

  • Rooms: Generously sized, with microwaves and refrigerators, but recurring reports of mustiness and broken fixtures.

  • Cleanliness: Mixed experiences, including clean-room praise, dirty-room complaints and multiple 2025 cockroach reports.

  • Service: Some guests warmly praise the owner and staff; others describe rude interactions or ineffective problem handling.

  • Amenities: Free parking, advertised free Wi-Fi and laundry facilities; upper floors require stairs, and Wi-Fi reliability is poor.

  • Fees and surprises: Pet and extra-bed charges may apply; confirm breakfast availability rather than relying on conflicting listings.
