Axel's take: 9.1/10

Polished Dallas luxury with standout hospitality, best enjoyed for its lively social side. an independent 5-star luxury hotel in Dallas’s Harwood District, scored for what it is.

Hôtel Swexan is an independent 5-star in Dallas’s Harwood District, and it’s a strong pick for a celebratory city break. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise the welcoming staff, meticulous housekeeping and comfortable, generously appointed rooms. The rooftop pool, skyline views, serious fitness facilities and Stillwell’s steakhouse make this more than somewhere to sleep: there’s enough here to build a weekend around.

The trade-off is that this is a social hotel, not a guaranteed quiet retreat. Some guests report street or venue noise, so light sleepers should request a quieter room. Budget for a daily destination fee and paid, valet-only parking. The spa partnership is off-site, and the hotel’s FAQ says social-club members also have pool access. We’d choose it for a stylish couples’ escape rather than secluded, all-inclusive pampering.

• Best for: couples celebrating a special occasion; luxury travelers who enjoy dining and nightlife; travelers who prioritize fitness facilities

• Watch out for: street and venue noise in some rooms; daily destination fee and paid valet-only parking; spa treatments through an off-site partner

• Location: Harwood District setting near restaurants, with American Airlines Center within walking distance.

• Rooms: Comfortable, well-appointed rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows; some guests report noise.

• Cleanliness: A particular strength, with consistently enthusiastic housekeeping feedback across Tripadvisor and Expedia.

• Service: Warm, attentive staff earn repeated praise; occasional lapses do not dominate the overall picture.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool, extensive gym, saunas, cold plunge and multiple restaurants; spa partner is off-site.

• Fees and surprises: Daily destination fee, charged valet-only parking, and pool access shared with social-club members.
