Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong Vanderbilt base with friendly service and a useful downtown shuttle. a full-service mid-range hotel beside Vanderbilt and Centennial Park, scored for what it is.

This full-service mid-range Holiday Inn is a strong pick for Vanderbilt visits and Nashville sightseeing without staying amid Broadway’s crowds. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and genuinely helpful staff. The complimentary downtown shuttle is a substantial perk, while nightly songwriter performances at the Commodore Grille give the hotel more character than a typical chain property. Expedia lists rooms renovated in 2026, making older complaints about tired interiors less representative.

The main catch is location: despite “Dwtn” in the name, this is a Vanderbilt-area base, not a walk-out-the-door Broadway hotel. Parking costs extra, and breakfast is not automatically included. The shuttle earns considerable praise, but allow flexibility rather than relying on an exact departure. We’d skip it for a nightlife trip where walking home matters most.

• Best for: Vanderbilt campus and football visitors; sightseers happy to use a shuttle; travelers who enjoy live songwriter performances

• Watch out for: Not in the Broadway nightlife core; Paid parking and breakfast; Shuttle timing may require flexibility

• Location: Beside Vanderbilt and across from Centennial Park; downtown entertainment requires a ride.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and private balconies; Expedia lists a 2026 room renovation.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Tripadvisor and Expedia feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff receive repeated praise across several review sites.

• Amenities: Free local shuttle, seasonal outdoor pool, gym, coffee shop and live music at the Commodore Grille.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking and valet cost extra; check breakfast inclusion, and expect a fee when bringing a dog.
