Axel's take: 7.6/10
A good pool-and-snorkeling pick, but not a luxury beach escape. a family-friendly, mid-range all-inclusive resort beside Cozumel’s cruise port, scored for what it is.
Grand Park Royal is a mid-range, family-friendly all-inclusive, despite the official website’s five-star positioning. We’d pick it for the seaside infinity pools, easy snorkeling and convenient access to town rather than luxury. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests frequently praise clean, comfortable rooms and individual staff members, and families appreciate the activities and snack options. It delivers a reasonably complete resort vacation without feeling especially polished.
The trade-offs are substantial: the beach is a tiny, rocky cove, and docked cruise ships can dominate the sea view. Food gets divided reviews, with recurring complaints about buffet temperature and variety; front-desk problem handling and membership sales pitches also frustrate some guests. The main pool underwent renovation in May–June 2026; confirm its status before booking. We’d skip it for a broad sandy beach, consistently refined dining or seamless luxury service.
-
Best for: families wanting an easy all-inclusive; casual snorkelers; pool-focused travelers
-
Watch out for: tiny rocky beach and cruise-ship views; uneven food and problem handling; membership sales pitches
-
Location: Near cruise-port shopping, with downtown a short taxi ride away.
-
Rooms: Comfortable balcony rooms; some recent guests report maintenance and air-conditioning problems.
-
Cleanliness: Generally a strength across guest ratings and recent reviews, despite occasional lapses.
-
Service: Many staff earn warm praise, but reception and follow-through are less consistent.
-
Amenities: Infinity pools, kids’ club and snorkeling; May–June 2026 main-pool renovation warrants a status check.
-
Fees and surprises: Guests report charges for continued all-inclusive use after checkout; confirm room-service limits and extras.
