Axel's take: 8.0/10

Strong value for beach access and friendly service, not polished resort luxury. A simple 3-star all-inclusive on Montego Bay’s Hip Strip, scored for what it is.

Deja is a compact, simple 3-star all-inclusive that makes more sense as a lively Montego Bay base than a secluded beach resort. Its strongest draw is Doctor’s Cave Beach across the road, with admission included. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, while Jamaican food and organized entertainment give it personality. We’d pick it for convenient beach days, nearby shops and an easy airport transfer rather than impressive rooms.

The compromises are dated decor, some maintenance and housekeeping inconsistencies, and food variety that doesn’t satisfy everyone. Music and the busy Hip Strip can also undermine a quiet stay. There’s no elevator, and the beach requires crossing the street rather than stepping straight onto sand. Skip it if you need step-free access, reliably peaceful evenings or the dining choice and finish of a larger upscale all-inclusive.

• Best for: Value-minded all-inclusive travelers; Beachgoers who like a lively location; Short Montego Bay stays

• Watch out for: Dated rooms and uneven upkeep; Music and busy-street noise; Stairs, no elevator and a road crossing to the beach

• Location: Central Hip Strip location opposite Doctor’s Cave Beach, with shops nearby and a short drive to the airport.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable but simply furnished; dated decor and occasional maintenance issues recur in guest feedback.

• Cleanliness: Broadly positive ratings, though some guests report inconsistent housekeeping and towel replenishment.

• Service: Friendly, welcoming staff are the most consistent strength across Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor.

• Amenities: Included beach admission, outdoor pool, hot tub, gym and organized entertainment; dining variety gets mixed feedback.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a check-in deposit and extra charges for airport transfers, early check-in and late checkout.
