Axel's take: 8.2/10

A comfortable Hawthorne base, but airport transfers and extras need planning. a practical 3-star business hotel in Hawthorne, near LAX, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Courtyard is a strong pick for business trips and stadium weekends if you plan to drive or use rideshares. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms and helpful staff; Tripadvisor feedback also highlights generous room sizes. The outdoor pool, hot tub, gym and on-site dining give it more staying power than a basic airport stopover. We'd choose it for a practical Hawthorne base rather than a sightseeing location.

The main catches are logistical: despite LAX in the name, Marriott confirms there is no airport shuttle. Parking costs extra, breakfast is not complimentary, and housekeeping is scheduled every other day. Parking charges also recur as a guest frustration. We'd skip it for a quick layover requiring seamless transfers, or an LA vacation built around walking out to attractions.

• Best for: business travelers visiting Hawthorne; stadium and concert trips with transportation arranged; families wanting a pool

• Watch out for: no airport shuttle; paid parking and breakfast; every-other-day housekeeping

• Location: About 4.5 miles from LAX; practical for Hawthorne and nearby event venues, less suited to car-free sightseeing.

• Rooms: Guests often describe spacious, comfortable rooms; overall condition feedback remains positive.

• Cleanliness: Recent Expedia and Trip.com reviews consistently favor cleanliness, despite occasional exceptions elsewhere.

• Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring strength across several review sites.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, sport court, Bistro and pizza restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and breakfast cost extra; no airport shuttle, and routine housekeeping is every other day.
