Axel's take: 8.3/10
Excellent breakfast and helpful staff make this a strong base, but noise matters. a centrally located 3-star city hotel near Oslo Central Station, scored for what it is.
Thon Hotel Spectrum is a practical 3-star city hotel about five minutes’ walk from Oslo Central Station. It’s a strong pick for a short Oslo break: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the generous breakfast buffet, helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms. Breakfast is included, and the gym and complimentary lobby coffee add useful extras for this class.
The compromise is quiet, not convenience. Recent guests report noise from nearby pubs, and Thon warns of construction on the neighbouring site, mainly weekdays from 07:00 to 19:00. Some bedrooms and bathrooms are compact, although room sizes vary. Ask about room position before booking rather than assuming every room sleeps equally well. We’d skip it if you’re a light sleeper or want spacious accommodation for lingering indoors.
