Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong Broadway base with welcoming staff, comfortable rooms and some fee friction. a 4-star boutique hotel just off Times Square, scored for what it is.

The Muse is a 4-star boutique hotel just off Times Square, and it’s a strong pick for a theater-focused New York trip. Recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Hotels.com guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds; many find the rooms generously sized by Midtown standards. Little Opus adds convenient on-site dining and drinks, while Broadway theaters and several subway lines are an easy walk away.

The trade-offs are more about location and extras than the basics. Some guests report street noise, particularly in front-facing rooms, though others find the hotel surprisingly quiet. A nightly destination fee and recent billing complaints warrant checking exactly what your reservation includes; parking also costs extra. We’d choose it for comfort and convenience, but skip it if you want a neighborhood atmosphere away from Times Square’s crowds.

• Best for: Broadway weekends; first-time Manhattan visitors; travelers who prioritize helpful service

• Watch out for: Street noise in some front-facing rooms; Nightly destination fee and billing friction; Paid parking

• Location: Excellent for theaters, Midtown sights and subway access; Times Square crowds come with the territory.

• Rooms: Comfortable contemporary rooms; entry categories are 235–270 square feet, with larger rooms and suites available.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews, despite occasional minor misses.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise; billing follow-through gets some criticism.

• Amenities: Little Opus café, restaurant and bar, a 24-hour gym, mini-fridges and refillable water stations.

• Fees and surprises: Check destination-fee inclusion before arrival; breakfast and valet parking cost extra.
