Axel's take: 8.2/10

Excellent rooms, but the ongoing strike makes this a qualified luxury pick. a five-star waterfront casino hotel in Everett, outside central Boston, scored for what it is.

Encore Boston Harbor is a five-star casino hotel whose strongest selling point is the room itself: generous space, comfortable beds, high-tech controls and sweeping views in harbor-facing rooms. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness and room comfort. We'd consider it for a casino-focused getaway, rather than a walk-everywhere Boston sightseeing trip.

The immediate caveat is the workers' strike, still ongoing as of October 23, 2026. October guests report restaurant closures, and one Tripadvisor reviewer also encountered unavailable room service and water transportation; other Expedia guests describe smooth stays despite the picketing. Confirm specific services before booking. There's no swimming pool, only spa dipping and plunge pools. We'd skip it for a family resort break or an occasion where uninterrupted five-star service matters more than an impressive room.

• Best for: casino-focused couples; travelers prioritizing spacious luxury rooms; harbor-view weekend breaks

• Watch out for: ongoing strike and reported service closures; transport needed for central Boston sightseeing; no swimming pool

• Location: Everett waterfront setting; better for staying on-property than exploring central Boston on foot.

• Rooms: Standard rooms span 650 square feet; guests consistently praise space, comfort and harbor views.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across Tripadvisor and recent verified Expedia reviews.

• Service: Often warmly praised, but complaint handling draws criticism and the strike adds uncertainty.

• Amenities: Casino, spa and fitness center; no swimming pool, and current dining availability needs checking.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking is complimentary; outside food beyond small snacks is prohibited, and strike-related closures may affect plans.
