A friendly lagoon-side alternative to Cancún’s bigger beachfront resorts. A relaxed mid-range, all-inclusive suite resort on Cancún’s lagoon, scored for what it is.

Sunset Marina is a relaxed mid-range, all-inclusive suite resort on Nichupté Lagoon, not directly on the Caribbean beach. It’s a strong pick for families and couples who prefer spacious accommodation and pool time to a sprawling resort scene. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise friendly staff and clean rooms. The pool’s swim-up bar, waterslide and organized activities give it enough substance for an easygoing holiday.

The main compromise is beach access: the hotel provides a complimentary water taxi or bus to sister properties. Dining gets plenty of praise, but limited buffet variety also recurs, and some guests describe older interiors and maintenance niggles.
