    The catch is the evening crush: recent visitors describe dense crowds and persistent selling around the river. Choose away from the waterfront if sleep matters, and confirm the vehicle drop-off before arriving with luggage. For autumn wet-season stays, ask about flood access rather than assuming every riverside address remains reachable.

    An Hoi puts the evening scene across the footbridge from Old Town. Nguyen Hoang carries the night market, while Nguyen Phuc Chu lines the river with places to drink and watch the boats. It suits travelers who want dinner, lanterns and another drink without arranging a ride home.

    The trade-off is noise, not access. Nguyen Phuc Chu’s bar strip is a poor match for early nights, so choose away from the market and ask specifically about amplified music. Families with early-sleeping children should look elsewhere unless they can verify a quiet address. Wet-season flooding can also interrupt riverside access.
