#6 of 6 hotels in Arroyo Grande by Axel's take. Arroyo Grande is #5 of 6 places to stay in Pismo Beach. The best hotels in Arroyo Grande, ranked · Where to stay in Pismo Beach

Axel's take: 7.3/10

A practical coastal base, but inconsistent hot water keeps it from an easy recommendation. a simple, limited-service chain hotel beside Highway 101, scored for what it is.

This is a simple, limited-service Hampton in Arroyo Grande, not a beachfront Pismo hotel. We'd consider it for a road-trip stop or family visit: free parking, hot breakfast and an outdoor pool make a useful package, with the beach about three miles away. Recent Expedia and Hotels.com guests frequently praise friendly staff, roomy accommodations and generally clean rooms.

The main reservation is recurring hot-water trouble. Tripadvisor guests reported lukewarm or cold showers across several stays in 2025–26; management acknowledged the issue in March 2026, and a July Hotels.com review mentions it too. Other guests report good showers, so experiences vary. Road and neighboring-room noise also crop up, alongside some worn furnishings. We'd skip it for a quiet coastal escape, and ask whether the hot-water problem has been resolved before booking.

  • Best for: families traveling by car; Central Coast road-trip stops; travelers prioritizing breakfast and parking

  • Watch out for: repeated reports of inconsistent hot water; road and neighboring-room noise; beach requires a drive

  • Location: In Arroyo Grande beside Highway 101, with restaurants nearby and Pismo Beach about three miles away.

  • Rooms: Often described as spacious; some furnishings show wear, and recent guests report missing refrigerators in some rooms.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive recent feedback, with occasional housekeeping lapses rather than a consistent poor-cleanliness pattern.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, though check-in and maintenance follow-through receive some criticism.

  • Amenities: Free hot breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking; outdoor pool, fitness center and a hot tub reported by guests.

  • Fees and surprises: Pets incur a nonrefundable fee; confirm refrigerator availability and hot-water reliability directly.
