Le Méridien Wien is a contemporary 5-star city hotel whose strongest luxury is its location: the Opera, Albertina and Hofburg are an easy walk away. We'd choose it for a comfortable, convenient Vienna break rather than old-world grandeur. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, comfortable beds, helpful staff and the extensive breakfast. Cleanliness is generally rated strongly, and the restaurant, bar and indoor pool give it more substance than a location-only pick.

The drawbacks are uneven room condition and occasional service slips. Recent guests describe some dated decor, maintenance problems and unreliable air-conditioning; these aren't the majority experience, but they matter at this level. The pool is small rather than a reason to book. We'd skip it if flawless luxury service or a substantial spa is central to the trip.
