Axel's take: 8.4/10

Warm service makes this a strong practical pick, despite aging rooms. a practical 3-star airport and hospital-area hotel, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Hilton Garden Inn is a strong pick for airport stopovers and visits to nearby Sacred Heart Hospital. Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, while clean, comfortable rooms remain the overall picture. Free parking and an airport shuttle add convenience, and the restaurant, bar and outdoor pool make it more useful than a basic overnight stop.

The main compromise is age: guests across several sites describe worn furniture and rooms needing updates, with some reporting bathroom maintenance issues. Those complaints deserve attention, but they do not outweigh the broadly positive feedback. Breakfast usually costs extra, and Expedia lists limited shuttle hours rather than round-the-clock service. We'd choose it for a convenient mainland stay, not for fresh interiors, downtown atmosphere or a beach vacation.

• Best for: airport stopovers; Sacred Heart Hospital visitors; business travelers with a car

• Watch out for: aging furniture and occasional bathroom maintenance issues; breakfast generally costs extra; airport shuttle is not 24-hour

• Location: Near the airport, Sacred Heart Hospital and Cordova Mall; downtown and beaches require a drive.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and well equipped, but recurring reports describe dated furnishings and wear.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall guest ratings, although individual bathroom and housekeeping complaints warrant attention.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the most consistent strength across recent reviews.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym, restaurant, bar, free Wi-Fi and complimentary airport shuttle; no confirmed indoor pool.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free; breakfast and pets generally cost extra. Confirm shuttle hours before arrival.
