Excellent Broadway access, but the refresh has not yet delivered dependable four-star comfort. a large 4-star Midtown hotel undergoing a Crowne Plaza refresh, scored for what it is.

This large 4-star Midtown hotel, formerly The Manhattan at Times Square, is a location-first choice rather than a dependable upscale stay. Broadway, Rockefeller Center and several subway stations are easy walks away. IHG announced its Crowne Plaza relaunch in September 2026, and recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests praise refreshed rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. We'd consider it for a sightseeing-heavy trip, with a renovated room confirmed beforehand.

The transition remains uneven. Despite the official relaunch, a Tripadvisor management response in October acknowledged ongoing renovation work; guests describe daytime drilling, while Expedia reviews repeat elevator-delay complaints. Room condition and cleanliness still vary, and recent feedback raises concerns about temperature control and room-category accuracy. Check the nightly service fee, deposit and gym availability before booking. We'd skip it for quiet daytime downtime or a consistently polished four-star experience.

• Best for: Broadway-focused weekends; Sightseers prioritizing walkability; Travelers who confirm a renovated room

• Watch out for: Renovation noise and elevator waits; Uneven room condition; Nightly service fee and deposit

• Location: Excellent walking access to Broadway, Rockefeller Center and multiple subway stations.

• Rooms: Refreshed rooms earn praise, but condition, temperature control and category consistency remain uneven.

• Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms; older-room complaints prevent a dependable verdict.

• Service: Helpful staff are a recurring strength, though complaint handling and communication receive mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Restaurant and free Wi-Fi advertised; confirm gym access after renovation-related closure reports. No pool.

• Fees and surprises: Nightly service fee and deposit apply; parking, pets and breakfast can cost extra. Renovation disruption persists in recent reports.
