Axel's take: 7.4/10

A practical Midtown base, but expect apartment-style simplicity rather than four-star polish. An independent 4-star Midtown boutique with apartment-style rooms, scored for what it is.

Hotel 32 32 is an independent, listed four-star boutique that works better as a practical Midtown base than a luxury stay. The location near the Empire State Building and 33rd Street subway is its strongest asset. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean rooms, while selected categories add genuinely useful kitchens or private outdoor space. We'd consider it for sightseeing trips where location matters more than hotel facilities.

The compromises are uneven upkeep, variable room sizes and limited full-service comforts. Tripadvisor reviews include recurring complaints about worn furnishings and housekeeping lapses, although the broader feedback remains positive. Nearby construction drew noise complaints during 2026; whether it still affects particular rooms is unconfirmed, so ask before booking. There's also a mandatory nightly resort fee. We'd skip it for guaranteed quiet or consistently polished four-star service.

• Best for: Sightseers prioritizing Midtown access; Longer stays in kitchen-equipped rooms; Couples wanting a private balcony

• Watch out for: Mandatory nightly resort fee; Variable upkeep and room layouts; Nearby construction noise reported in 2026

• Location: Walkable Midtown location near the Empire State Building and 33rd Street subway.

• Rooms: Apartment-style layouts vary; kitchens and balconies are category-specific, with some reports of wear.

• Cleanliness: Mostly praised on Expedia, but repeated linen and housekeeping complaints prevent an unqualified endorsement.

• Service: Helpful staff earn frequent praise; complaint handling receives less consistent feedback.

• Amenities: Sushi dining and a cocktail bar; Expedia lists nearby fitness-center access rather than an on-site gym.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory nightly resort fee and possible credit-card authorization; confirm construction exposure before arrival.
