Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong Uptown base with comfortable rooms and a worthwhile rooftop bar. a modern, boutique-style 4-star in Uptown Dallas, scored for what it is.

Canopy is a modern, boutique-style 4-star that gets the important things right: comfortable rooms, a walkable Uptown location and generally welcoming service. Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, beds and helpful staff, with the valet team earning particular recognition. We'd pick it for a Dallas weekend built around restaurants and neighborhood exploring; the trolley stop outside and Upside rooftop bar add genuine appeal.

There are a few manageable limitations. Some guests report sound carrying through connecting doors, while restaurant and bar service attracts occasional complaints about waits. On-site parking is paid valet only, and Hilton confirms breakfast costs extra unless included in your booking. There's no pool. Light sleepers should request a non-connecting room; families wanting pool time or travelers seeking full luxury service should look elsewhere.

• Best for: couples on a city weekend; travelers exploring Uptown without a car; business travelers wanting neighborhood dining

• Watch out for: sound transfer through some connecting doors; paid valet-only on-site parking; no swimming pool

• Location: Walkable West Village setting near restaurants and shops, with a trolley stop outside.

• Rooms: Modern, comfortably sized rooms and well-liked beds; request non-connecting accommodation if noise-sensitive.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest sources, despite occasional individual housekeeping misses.

• Service: Staff and valets receive strong praise; dining service is less consistently prompt.

• Amenities: Upside rooftop bar, lobby dining, a 24-hour gym and complimentary bikes; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Valet parking, breakfast and pets carry extra charges; listings also disclose a mandatory tourism assessment.
