Montecristo is a simple, independent 3-star near San Blas and Plaza de Armas. It has character, a rooftop terrace and included breakfast, and guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff. Booking.com and Expedia ratings suggest a generally satisfactory stay rather than a standout. We'd consider it for a short, location-first visit, but not as an easy recommendation.
The sticking point is consistency. Several 2025–2026 guests describe inadequate cleaning, with mold reported on both Tripadvisor and Expedia, although other recent visitors found their rooms clean and comfortable.
