Axel's take: 6.3/10

A practical Agouza base, but room condition makes it a cautious choice. a basic independent 3-star in Agouza, scored for what it is.

Mayorca is a basic independent 3-star in Agouza, best considered when this neighborhood matters more than polished surroundings. Its strongest case is practical: proximity to the Nile, straightforward rooms and staff who earn praise across several sources. Expedia’s two recent stays were positive, but its review pool is tiny; Booking.com is also working with very few ratings.

The wider record is less reassuring. Older Tripadvisor and Booking.com guest accounts repeatedly describe dated furnishings, uneven cleaning and unreliable air-conditioning or Wi-Fi. A recent Trip.com guest also reported poor cleanliness and an unhelpful reception experience, so we wouldn’t assume those concerns are resolved. Breakfast and airport transfers can cost extra. It may suit a short, no-frills neighborhood stay; we’d skip it if dependable housekeeping and working room basics are priorities.

• Best for: short stays in Agouza; budget travelers comfortable with basic accommodation

• Watch out for: dated rooms and uneven housekeeping; reported air-conditioning and Wi-Fi problems; limited, conflicting recent reviews

• Location: In Agouza near the Nile; useful for neighborhood visits rather than a downtown doorstep.

• Rooms: Some guests appreciate the space, but older accounts repeatedly flag worn furnishings and maintenance problems.

• Cleanliness: Mixed evidence: recent Expedia feedback is positive, while Booking.com scores and other guest reports warrant caution.

• Service: Often praised on Expedia and Booking.com, though a recent Trip.com guest reported an unhelpful reception experience.

• Amenities: Listings include a restaurant, bar, 24-hour reception and free Wi-Fi; guest reports question Wi-Fi reliability.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion depends on the booking; airport transfers cost extra, and some room categories are restricted to Egyptians and residents.
