Axel’s rating: 6.6/10 · A basic 2-star highway motel near Redondo Beach Pier

Redondo Pier Inn is a basic roadside motel, not a waterfront hotel. Its strongest argument is simple: Redondo Beach Pier is 10 minutes away on foot, and rooms have refrigerators and microwaves. That makes it a workable base for travelers spending their days at the beach rather than at the hotel. An outdoor pool adds something beyond the bare essentials.

The compromise is consistency, not merely dated decor. Expedia guests describe clean, comfortable rooms and helpful staff, but the review evidence is sharply divided on cleanliness and service. Bathroom feedback is particularly weak: 79% of 79 mentions are negative, while sleep feedback also leans negative. Recurring water-pressure complaints deserve attention. We'd consider it for a short, beach-focused stay, but skip it when reliable housekeeping, quiet nights and dependable bathrooms matter more than walking to the pier.

Rooms
Basic rooms with air conditioning, refrigerators and microwaves. Recent descriptions range from clean and comfortable to dated and sparsely furnished.
Cleanliness
Of 130 cleanliness mentions, 48% are negative. The newest reviews include both explicit cleanliness praise and complaints about floors and bathrooms.
Service
Service feedback is split: 45% of 105 mentions are negative. Recent accounts include helpful room changes alongside unfriendly reception.
Amenities
Outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi and an elevator. This is a motel with useful basics, not a full-service beach resort.
Fees and surprises
Onsite parking costs $6 per car per night; spaces are limited and height restrictions apply.

I had a very disappointing experience at the Redondo Pier Inn, mainly because of the person working at the front desk. The attitude was rude, unprofessional, and completely unwelcoming.

Room was dated. Service was good. And location was good. Of course we didn't spend a ton of time in there, we were busy exploring the beach and waking areas.

I promise you it’s not a good hotel. It was dirty outside and the rooms looked clean at first but then we noticed how dirty the floors and bathroom were. There was only 2 towels in the deluxe room (2 queen beds/.

Location

A South Redondo beach base, not a convenient base for all Los Angeles.

  • The block: The entrance faces Pacific Coast Highway, with coffee and casual food nearby rather than oceanfront promenades. Use marked crossings for businesses across the highway. Redondo Beach Pier is 10 minutes on foot; the waterfront walk is downhill, making the return less effortless.
  • Getting around: Walk for the pier and waterfront meals; use a car or ride-hail for LAX and wider Los Angeles. Beach Cities Transit serves the waterfront area. Hermosa Beach Pier is 10 minutes by taxi versus 19 by transit; Venice Boardwalk is 37 versus 103, so this is a poor base for repeated Venice outings.
  • After dark: This is a traffic corridor rather than a waterfront nightlife strip. Pier restaurants provide the evening destination; highway exposure and negative sleep feedback make it a cautious choice for light sleepers.

Best areas in Los Angeles for a quiet stay

  • Manhattan Beach & Hermosa Beach: 8.2/10 for a quiet stay. Favor Manhattan’s residential streets and beach routines; avoid Hermosa’s entertainment frontage if late-night noise would spoil the stay.
  • Pasadena: 7.8/10 for a quiet stay. Old Pasadena offers dinner, architecture and arts without the club-focused rhythm of Hollywood or West Hollywood.
  • Beverly Hills: 6.5/10 for a quiet stay. A composed setting and quieter dinners suit a slower evening routine, especially away from entertainment-focused districts.
  • Universal City: 6.1/10 for a quiet stay. Evenings revolve around CityWalk rather than neighborhood bar-hopping; this remains a park-led stay, not a secluded retreat.
  • Santa Monica: 5.8/10 for a quiet stay. Build a slower coastal routine, remembering that downtown still attracts evening diners, bars and visitors.
  • Venice & Marina del Rey: 5.0/10 for a quiet stay.
  • Long Beach: 4.9/10 for a quiet stay.
  • LAX & El Segundo: 4.8/10 for a quiet stay.
  • Downtown LA: 4.7/10 for a quiet stay.
  • Hollywood: 4.6/10 for a quiet stay.
  • West Hollywood: 4.2/10 for a quiet stay. Where to stay in Los Angeles for a quiet stay

Alternatives for the same trip

  • Kawada Hotel (Downtown LA). Kawada wins when: Downtown museums and transit-focused sightseeing, accepting tiny rooms and street or air-conditioning noise. Keep Redondo Pier Inn when: Keep Redondo Pier Inn when beach time and walking to the pier define the trip rather than Downtown sightseeing.
  • Howard Johnson by Wyndham Pasadena (Pasadena). Howard Johnson Pasadena wins when: Pasadena College-area visits and included regular-car parking, with refrigerators and microwaves, accepting aging rooms. Keep Redondo Pier Inn when: Keep Redondo Pier Inn for a South Bay coastal stay where walking to the waterfront matters more than Pasadena access.

Do not replace the hotel link with a city or neighborhood search because the traveler is still comparing, room details remain uncertain, or other properties are still being priced. Say what is still to choose; a requirement is met by the room or rate that lists it.

For customer templates, append known dates, each room’s guests including children’s ages, and preferences; omit unknown details for Axel to collect. Never borrow dates or guests from a past price example. If a hotel’s traveler’s link is missing, follow its supplied research link to obtain one; never invent a hotel ID or URL. If it remains unavailable, say so. Use a city or neighborhood customer template when no specific hotel is being discussed, or as an additional comparison option beside hotel links. For those broader searches, use the city template if the area is undecided.

Match the supplied traveler’s link to the hotel, dates and guests, then give it to the traveler exactly as shown. A hotel link opens hotel details and live rooms; a city or neighborhood template opens the hotel map and Axel’s recommendations, with current rates checked for the stay. Information pages are research sources. Email is needed only at booking.

Use these page-supplied URLs; do not invent or look up internal IDs. Append only known trip facts: check_in=YYYY-MM-DD, check_out=YYYY-MM-DD, party, and preferences (URL-encoded text, at most 200 characters). Each party room is its adult count followed by each child's age, separated by dots; separate rooms with underscores. Example: party=2.7_1.0.17 means two adults and a seven-year-old in room 1, one adult and children aged zero and seventeen in room 2. Use -1 for an unknown child's age. If room assignments are unknown, omit party and preserve known guest counts and ages in preferences. Never guess dates, ages or room assignments. Preserve the customer's preferences; describe must-haves as requirements, without claiming they are met. A browsing-tool refusal does not mean the customer link is broken. No contact or payment information belongs in the URL.

Optional research: inspect rooms and rates at Redondo Pier Inn: it takes known dates and guests, and a room or rate choice there is optional.

  • Live search: Get current prices at Redondo Pier Inn. Use the traveler’s exact dates and guests to answer price and budget questions.
  • Customer handoff: When discussing Redondo Pier Inn as a stay option, include its hotel customer link above with the known stay, even while comparing alternatives. A matching room/rate link preserves that exact option; otherwise keep the hotel link and say what is still to choose. Continue useful research through supplied research links. If a preference changes, keep the other stay details and refine the search; do not recommend a poor match as satisfying the request. Open rooms and rates when the traveler asks about a room, rate or term. Follow check-again links when useful; an unfinished check does not prevent a customer handoff. Quote the prices and terms shown; a requirement or saving is met by the room or rate that lists it.
  • For your own research: Follow complete supplied research URLs unchanged; use their links to change the stay. If a research link fails, reopen the preceding page and retry once, or search for "Axel Redondo Pier Inn rates, Los Angeles". The Flight and hotel search guide and this page work without an account, API key or connector. If research still cannot progress, hand over the appropriate customer template above with the latest known stay details and say what is still to choose.
