Avoca Randwick is a simple 3-star lodge that makes most sense for hospital visits, UNSW trips and short stays without a car. Its location is the strongest selling point: hospitals, cafés and light rail are close by. Booking.com and recent Expedia guests regularly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. We'd call it a good, functional base rather than somewhere to spend much of the day.

The compromises matter more on longer stays. Rooms are compact, access is by stairs only, and reception runs from 11am to 4pm, so arrange late arrival ahead.
