Oscar on Main is an upscale apartment resort, not a full-service hotel, and a strong pick for a self-catering Gold Coast stay. Spacious layouts, ocean-view balconies and easy walks to Main Beach and Tedder Avenue are its biggest draws. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the space, cleanliness and helpful staff. Full kitchens, in-apartment laundries and indoor and outdoor pools make it particularly practical for families and longer stays.

The main caveat right now is external building painting, which the official website says is underway; ask how your apartment will be affected. Apartments are individually furnished, so decor and condition vary rather than matching one consistent hotel standard.
