Rua das Pedras and Rua Manoel Turíbio de Farias handle the shopping, restaurants and evening crowds; Orla Bardot connects that bustle to Humaitá and Ossos. This is our default for a first visit without a car. You can arrange boat trips, walk the waterfront and choose dinner without organizing another ride.

Choose your street carefully: the Rua das Pedras end suits late nights, while Ossos offers a gentler village atmosphere and access toward Azeda. Humaitá adds climbs. João Fernandes is the straightforward beach-holiday choice: a sheltered bay, beachfront meals and equipment for snorkeling, kayaking and paddleboarding. The streets above Rua João Fernandes trade immediate beach access for sea views. It suits families who want an established beach routine and first-timers happy to organize their days around the water.

The catch is the terrain: a short distance on a map can hide a steep climb. The narrow sand also fills quickly, so this is not the answer for an empty-beach escape. Dinner nearby is possible, but Rua das Pedras remains the better evening destination. Choose lower streets if mobility or stroller access matters.

## 3. Geribá: 6.8/10

**Stay for surf and long beach days, not nightly walks to Centro.** Geribá combines excellent hotels with the strongest value, but getting around is less convenient and evenings offer fewer choices than Centro.

Geribá feels like a proper beach neighborhood rather than an extension of Rua das Pedras. The long sweep of sand attracts surfers, families and groups, with beach restaurants and a mix of holiday houses and pousadas behind it. Rua Gerbert Perissé is a useful beachfront reference; the eastern end gives access toward Ferradurinha.

Choose it when the beach is the trip, especially if you surf. It is less convincing for sightseeing by day and Centro every night: the main avenue carries the vans, not the beachfront, and holiday traffic complicates cross-town outings. Families wanting consistently sheltered water should favor Ferradura or João Fernandes instead.
